Behind the Register building is The Randolph Hotel and Des Moines Saddlrey Co. A block over is the Hewitt Charles and Sons Co. Behind Des Moines Saddlery is Globe Machinery and Supply Co. Catty-corner to the Globe Co. is the Warfield-Pratt-Howell Co. The river is Des Moines River and the bridges are Vine and First Streets. The Polk County Courthouse, The Des Moines Saddlrey Co., the Warfield-Pratt-Howell Co. Warehouse and the Fleming Building are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
